O #NoDayWithoutUs é um evento que irá reunir cidadãs e cidadãos, representantes de muitas Organizações da Sociedade Civil de Portugal para promover uma discussão sobre a proteção dos Direitos Humanos e quais as melhores estratégias para os defender.

Porque é que organizamos este evento?
Porque, no dia 10 de dezembro de 2018, celebram-se os 70 anos da Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos. E neste dia, a Academia Cidadã, e muitas outras organizações europeias parceiras do European Civic Forum, decidiram mobilizar-se em simultâneo, promovendo ações por toda a Europa, que marcam a celebração dos 70 da Declaração.
A Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos foi concebida em 1948, depois de uma guerra mundial onde os direitos de muitas pessoas foram brutalmente violados. Esta guerra foi iniciada pelo nazi-fascismo, que conseguiu subir ao poder em muitos países da Europa na década anterior, os anos 30.
Atualmente, temos novamente forças anti-democráticas, xenófobas, racistas e ultra-nacionalistas que ameaçam os Direitos Humanos por toda a Europa.
No dia 10 de dezembro, a Sociedade Civil celebrará os 70 anos da Declaração deixando claro que NÃO HÁ DIA SEM NÓS! Iremos continuar a lutar pelos Direitos Humanos e por Fazer da Europa, uma Europa melhor para TOD*S!
What would society be like without nongovernmental organizations? What is the relevance of Civil Society for the protection of Human Rights? The 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration is celebrated, but are all human rights guaranteed for all? #NoDayWithoutUs is an event that will bring together representatives of many NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and Portuguese Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Portugal to disseminate the impact of their work on Human Rights. The #NoDayWithoutUs event will promote a discussion on the protection of Human Rights so that we can reach a conclusion on the evaluation of the work of Civil Society in Portugal in this matter. Why do we organize this event? Because, on December 10, 2018, the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is celebrated. On this day, the Citizenship Academy, and many other European partner organizations of the European Civic Forum, decided to mobilize simultaneously, promoting actions throughout Europe, which mark the celebration of the 70’s of the Declaration. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was conceived in 1948, after the II world war where the rights of many people were brutally violated. This war was initiated by Nazi-fascism, which rose to power in many European countries in the previous decade, the 1930s. We now have again new anti-democratic, xenophobic, racist and ultra-nationalist forces that threaten Human Rights throughout Europe. On December 10, Civil Society will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Declaration making it clear THERE IS NO DAY WITHOUT US!
